Firebugs struck at the former Kippax Junior School on Monday, June 29.

The culprits had placed bundles of rubbish next to the back entrance and set them alight.

A fire crew from Garforth spent two hours dealing with the blaze, which was reported at about 9.30pm.

A station spokesman said the flames burnt down the door and reached inside, causing minor damage to the roof.

He said petty arson was an "ongoing problem" at the school since it was put up for sale two years ago and it had become an easy local target for troublemakers.
