Recent capture Lee Land, who has been sidelined for several seasons, was among the selections for a preliminary round match between the club's Roundheads and Cavaliers sides earlier this week, following the concession of the fixture by Kippax.

Gareth Grant-Mills and John Saville were among the tries for the Roundheads but the Cavaliers prevailed 20-12, thanks to impressive displays by Luke Pickering, Thomas Kaye and Carl Garman.

Land will now come into contention for the trip to Middleton.

More players are welcome for inclusion in the Royals' development teams, which are being overseen by competition coach Paul Farrar. Further information is available from Phil Hodgson on 01977 515792.

Meanwhile Methley hope to be at strength for their CMS Yorkshire League's Unison Division Two Top Four semi-final away at Middleton Marauders on Saturday.
